The History of Trumag International

Peter C. Baer started with a small, but dedicated and successful team offering asset management, family office as well as trust and fiduciary services to an international clientele out of Basel. The company could build a strong network of excellent business relationships and flourished. The strong basis of Baltrag is its long-standing employees, which have joined the Baltrag team over the years. They all have a huge experience and are experts in their fields.

Trusts have been broadly recognised in Switzerland already before the enactment of the Hague Convention on the Law Applicable to Trusts and on their Recognition 1985 (the Hague Convention) on 1 July 2007. Nevertheless, a sound legal basis was missing and therefore, desirable to improve conditions for the establishment and management of trusts, enhancing the appeal of Switzerland as a business location. The Hague Convention on Trust set the basis for the establishment of Trumag International Ltd some years later.

Ariane Baer Hammer decided to become part of Baltrag and to reinforce the company especially with her legal knowledge in a financial world in which legal and compliance matters have gained importance over the years. Hence, the family business continues in the the second generation.

After many years of offering trust and fiduciary services, Baltrag decided to form a second business entity for its trust and fiduciary services separating it from the asset management services.

After a demanding licensing process, Trumag International Ltd was granted the highly desired seal of approval as a Swiss Finma licensed trustee at the beginning of 2023.
